Tube Method and Its Applications
In this talk, we first review the tube method as to how it connects to probability, statistics and a little bit of differential geometry, and present its applications to large deviations and to a great array of statistical problems. We then show our new general simultaneous confidence regions (SCR) for the mean response surface from a spatially-correlated Negative Binomial (NB) regression model. The motivation for the SCR for a NB model came from analyzing neuronal imaging data which are often overdispersed, heterogeneous, and spatially correlated. Some numerical studies and real data applications will also be presented.
